The Eye (2002) After receiving a corneal transplant, a young woman begins to have increasingly malevolent visions.
Sydney Wells (Jessica Alba) is an accomplished, independent, Los Angeles-based concert violinist. She is also blind, and has been so since a childhood tragedy. As our story opens, Sydney undergoes a double corneal transplant, a surgery she has waited her whole life to have, and her sight is restored. After the surgery, neural ophthalmologist Dr. Paul Faulkner (Alessandro Nivola) helps Sydney with the difficult adjustment, and with the support of her older sister Helen (Parker Posey), Sydney learns to see again.

But Sydney's happiness is short-lived as unexplainable shadowy and frightening images start to haunt her. Are they a passing aftermath of her surgery, Sydney's mind adjusting to sight, a product of her imagination, or something horrifyingly real? As Sydney's family and friends begin to doubt her sanity, Sydney is soon convinced that her anonymous eye donor has somehow opened the door to a terrifying world only she can now see.

This is one of the Famous Classics of Ghostdom, said to be one of the best ghost photos ever taken - The Brown Lady of Raynham Hall.

For over 300 years, Raynham Hall Mansion in Norfolk, England was the home of the Townshend family (also reported as Townsand and Townsend). In the 1700s, Charles Townshend lived there with his wife Dorothy. He had a title and all that, but I'll skip to The Juicy Parts. Charles suspected Dorothy of infidelity. Lots of infidelity. In fact Charles pretty much decided Dorothy was a slut. She was once the mistress of a famous politician who was more famous for bedding anything in a skirt (no relation to Bill Clinton) than politics, and rumored to be quite wild. But of course marriage will change all that! thought Charles, the Moron.

Records show that Dorothy died and was buried in respectful style in 1726, but the Juicy Rumor was that Charles really got fed up with his tramp of a wife, worrying his reputation would be ruined, so he really just locked her away in a remote corner of the house, as good as dead, until her actual death many years later. And so, the tragic Dorothy haunted Raynham Hall, maybe still looking for a way out.

While staying in Raynham Hall in the early 1800s, King George IV said he saw the figure of a woman in a brown dress standing beside his bed, noting that she was deathly pale and hair a wild mess. Colonel Loftus said he saw a woman in a brown satin dress in the hallway on two occasions in 1835 and that her skin glowed with a light all it's own. He also said it appeared that her eyes had been gouged out. In fact whatever this was, was downright hideous looking. A few years later, Captain Frederick Marryat and two friends saw her gliding along an upstairs hallway, carrying a lantern. They ducked behind a door, peeking at the apparition just barely out of sight. As she passed them, Marryat said she stopped, turned and grinned at the men in a "diabolical manner." She seemed so real and so menacing that Marryat fired a pistol at her but there was nothing to hit - and it went right through into the wall.

The famous photo above was taken in September, 1936 by Captain Provand and Indre Shira, two photographers who were assigned to photograph Raynham Hall for a Country Life magazine article which was published in December of that year. This is what happened, according to Shira:

"Captain Provand took one photograph of the stairway while I flashed the light. He was putting in a new plate and focusing for another exposure; I was standing by his side just behind the camera with the flashlight pistol in my hand, looking directly up the staircase. All at once I detected an ethereal veiled form coming slowly down the stairs. Rather excitedly, I called out sharply: 'Quick, quick, there's something.' I pressed the trigger of the flashlight pistol. After the flash and on closing the shutter, Captain Provand removed the focusing cloth from his head and turning to me said: 'What's all the excitement about?'"
When the film was developed, there stood the Infamous Brown Lady ghost, seen for the first time. No sightings have been reported of her since 1936 - perhaps she's camera shy.

The SUN Newspaper recently ran a UFO story with the inspired(?) headline, “Oooh arrrr not alone anymore.” The story was as follows:

THIS stunning photo of a UFO over Cornwall was last night hailed by experts as one of the best ever taken in Britain . KELVIN took his picture at 3.31pm on December 29, with a Nikon D80 Digital SLR on automatic.

The classic flying saucer shape is seen above two ships. And UFO watchers believe it could be proof we are NOT alone. Kelvin Barbery snapped the mystery object from a coastal path between Swanpool and Maenporth, near Falmouth . In a weird twist, Kelvin, 55, did not even see the UFO at the time.

He thought he was just taking a sea view — but when he loaded the digital camera card on to his computer, the round metallic “craft” was in the centre of the shot, about two miles away.

Kelvin, a facilities manager for schools, said: “There were a couple of tankers out in the bay and I thought that it made a nice shot.



“There was nothing in view and certainly no fault on the camera. When I got home I couldn't believe what I had. I thought, ‘Wow, where did that come from?' I'm not the sort to believe in UFOs — now I'm not so sure.”

Nick Pope, one of Britain 's foremost UFO experts, said the photo was one of the best he had seen, Nick, formerly the official Ministry of Defence UFO analyst, said: “If I was still there I'd be looking at this very closely. The object looks structured, symmetrical and metallic. This man has caught something very interesting indeed."



Michael Soper, of the Contact International UFO group, agreed: “This does appear genuine. Digital photos can be doctored but everything about it appears consistent.”

To be honest, I find its strange that this image is being touted as, “One of the best” as even if you squint and tilt your head slightly it appears to show a gull, and regarding, “The object looks structured, symmetrical and metallic” perhaps this was a quick glance that the former MOD, “Analyst” Nick Pope cast over the image as I personally fail to see any of the features described. Eye of the beholder? It seems that there really is no happy medium with the tabloids, the UFO subject is either ridiculed and mocked, or blatantly dubious images are touted as absolute proof, is it any wonder that the uninformed public weigh and measure the subject and more often than not find it wanting? Thanks to UK UFO investigator/researcher Jenny Randles for the lead and I believe Jenny also sums up the widely perceived problems regarding the MoD, also alluding to the reason why the media jump on sightings such as this (with seemingly prosaic explanations) and perhaps more importantly why prominent UFOlogists appear to pander to their whimsical and fleeting interest (when not misquoted). "My bet is they (the MoD) will turn out to have been just as hopeless as the rest of us as at this tricky business. Indeed I suspect that you need many years of battle hardened study of the data before you see the basic issues involved and can talk yourself out of the romanticism that surrounds the evidence. Especially amidst the siren calls of the media who mostly only want to hear you say exciting stuff not find explanations. Nobody working with the MoD had this depth of continuity to get to the point where they saw the subject in all of its complexity (and at heart, its simplicity).”

In the supernatural thriller "One Missed Call," a chain of people receive terrifying cell phone messages of their own final fatal moments. Though the messages can be deleted, their number is up.

Beth Raymond (Shannyn Sossamon) is traumatized when she witnesses the gruesome deaths of two friends just days apart. Even more disturbing, she knows that both of them had received chilling cell phone messages — actual recordings of their own horrifying last moments. Impossibly, the calls were received days before they died, but each death occurred precisely when and how the messages foretold.

The police think Beth is delusional — except for Detective Jack Andrews (Edward Burns) whose own sister was killed in a freak accident that bears a strange similarity to the deaths of Beth's friends. Together, Jack and Beth work feverishly to unravel the mystery behind the ominous calls.

But even as they get closer to the truth, Beth's cell phone begins to ring with an eerie tune, and the readout says One Missed Call...

Cassadaga-Psychic Capital Of the World & Studio album by Bright Eyes

Cassadaga is the seventh studio album by Bright Eyes, released on April 10, 2007. Around 25 to 30 songs were recorded in 2006,with 13 of these appearing on the final track list. The album is named after the town of Cassadaga, Florida, a community of mediums and followers of spiritualism.

According to CBS news (CBS) We're all wondering what's going to happen in the year 2008. Well, as CBS Sunday Morning's Bill Geist found out, there's no better place to find out than in Cassadaga, Florida, the psychic capital of the world.

It's is a little town where about half the residents are psychics…of one kind or another.

Why Cassadega? Well, you know how cell phone contacts are better in certain places? Well, spiritualists settled here in 1894 because contact with the other planes, if you will, was clearer to them here. Psychic entrepreneurs, like Dr. Rob, later opened for business around the religious settlement.

Dr. Rob says it's a psychic Disneyland…where Mayberry meets the Twilight Zone.

No barbers, grocers or bankers...just scores of psychics. No waiting. Major credit cards accepted.

So, what does Cassadega's psychic industry foresee in 2008?

For the economy…

Good news, from Reverend Dawn Cassaday, a clairvoyant and clairaudient.

"I feel that the economy could actually be turning around in a very positive direction. I feel a great strengthening of the stock market," Cassaday told Geist.

And good news from tarot card reader Matthew Greene, "So probably around April, May, I feel as though you're going to see the crunch start coming up and lifting."

What do they predict for the presidential election?

"I think it will be Hillary," predicted Jamie Tolaver Ruiz. "And I'm not saying that that's my choice. But I do feel that Hillary will be the one."

"I do feel female energy coming into the White House," agreed Greene.

But like Washington political pundits these psychics are not all talking to the same celestial sources.

"I feel the office is gonna be held by a Republican," predicted Reverend Cassaday.

Matthew Sekunna of the Universal Centre, tapped into a similar psychic plane.

"I will predict that our next president more than likely will be a Republican," Sekunna said, adding, "I have a feeling this one's also gonna be decided by the courts."

"Oh no…," reacted Geist.

Say it isn't so! Let's talk about something more pleasant, like hurricanes.

"I don't feel like we're going to have a big hurricane season this year," said Dr. Rob. "What I feel this coming year, there will be a lot of earthquakes this year. And of course with earthquakes come tsunamis."

Taking a poll of psychics is not for the claustrophobic. Small rooms, small tables, small decorating budgets. And…some rather small questions.

"Will we be able to get an Egg McMuffin at McDonalds after 11:00? I don't think that'll ever happen," predicted Sekunna.

And what about Brangelina??

"Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie?" asked Greene, as he prepared his tarot cards. "Okay. What, what kind of year is it gonna be for them?"

A moment later, he had his answer.

"I think they'll hang in there one more year."

"One more year, and then it's over?" Geist asked.

"And then the divorce card comes out," Greene answered, laughing.

And of course there's the cosmic question we ask every year...will Elvis come back?

Greene consulted his cards again, "Will Elvis…come back? Nope."

Elvis is not coming back.

And baseball?

"My team the Chicago Cubs haven't won a world series in a hundred years," Bill told Cassaday.

No matter how many times he asked, Geist's Cubs never came up winners.

"I just feel like they need more strong players. Do you understand?" Cassaday asked him.

"I understand…completely," Geist answered.

No question was too great or small.

"In my personal life, it's kind of an odd thing that's happened is…all my major appliances have broken down," Geist told Cassaday.

"Yes," she told him. This is an astrology vibration right now. Mars is in retrograde…as these planets begin to start to turn and go backwards, that sometimes…it affects the energy of the earth and the energy of the earth affects small appliances, large appliances. And so you'll find that. And that'll be an affect probably until the middle of January."

"So, I could lose more major appliances?" Geist asked, worried.

"Yes," she answered, "You could."

The message from Cassadega is that things should be more stable and happier for all of us in 2008.

"So you think 2008's going to be a good year?" Geist asked Cassaday.

"I think it's going to be an awesome year," she said.

"Good year for you and your cat," predicted Jamie Tolaver Ruiz.

By the way Jamie is also a pet psychic.

And how's this for good news? We're all going to be thinner in 2008!

"I predict less obesity," said Tolaver Ruiz. "You need to stop saying, "I want to lose 10 pounds." You want to say, "I've lost 10 pounds already," as if it has already happened."

"And you say that, and it will be so?" asked Geist.

"If you really believe it," she said.

Some predictions seem just too incredible believe.

"And do you think…our flights out tomorrow will be on time?" asked Geist.

"Yes," predicted Dr.Rob.

But shockingly, even that came true. Maybe these guys are onto something.
