In the supernatural thriller "One Missed Call," a chain of people receive terrifying cell phone messages of their own final fatal moments. Though the messages can be deleted, their number is up.

Beth Raymond (Shannyn Sossamon) is traumatized when she witnesses the gruesome deaths of two friends just days apart. Even more disturbing, she knows that both of them had received chilling cell phone messages — actual recordings of their own horrifying last moments. Impossibly, the calls were received days before they died, but each death occurred precisely when and how the messages foretold.

The police think Beth is delusional — except for Detective Jack Andrews (Edward Burns) whose own sister was killed in a freak accident that bears a strange similarity to the deaths of Beth's friends. Together, Jack and Beth work feverishly to unravel the mystery behind the ominous calls.

But even as they get closer to the truth, Beth's cell phone begins to ring with an eerie tune, and the readout says One Missed Call...

Alcon Entertainment and Kadokawa Pictures present, in association with Equity Pictures Medienfonds GmbH & Co. KG IV, an Intermedia Films production, "One Missed Call." The film stars Shannyn Sossamon, Ed Burns, Ana Claudia Talancón, Ray Wise and Azura Skye.

"One Missed Call" is directed by Eric Valette, from a screenplay by Andrew Klavan, based upon the novel "Chakushin Ari" by Yasushi Akimoto. The producers are Broderick Johnson, Andrew A. Kosove, Scott Kroopf, Jennie Lew Tugend and Lauren C. Weissman. Shinya Egawa, Timothy M. Bourne, Martin Schuermann, Josef Lautenschlager and Andreas Thiesmeyer serve as executive producers, with Steven P. Wegner, Elizabeth Kushman, Alison Haskovec, Manfred Heid and Gerd Koechlin serving as co-producers.

The behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Glen MacPherson, production designer Laurence Bennett, editor Steven Mirkovich, and costume designer Sandra Hernandez. The music is by Reinhold Heil & Johnny Klimek, and the music supervisor is Deva Anderson.

"One Missed Call" has been rated "PG-13" by the MPAA for "intense sequences of violence and terror, frightening images, some sexual material and thematic elements."

Cassadaga-Psychic Capital Of the World & Studio album by Bright Eyes

Cassadaga is the seventh studio album by Bright Eyes, released on April 10, 2007. Around 25 to 30 songs were recorded in 2006,with 13 of these appearing on the final track list. The album is named after the town of Cassadaga, Florida, a community of mediums and followers of spiritualism.

Z Berg of the Like, Sherri DuPree and Stacy DuPree of Eisley as well as solo artist Rachael Yamagata all appear on this album. The first single, "Four Winds" was released on March 6, 2007, from the Four Winds EP with five B-sides not on Cassadaga.Pre-orders of the album received a bonus track, "Susan Miller Rag," on 3" (8cm) CD for CD orders and on 7" (18cm) vinyl for LP orders.

Cassadaga debuted at number four on the U.S Billboard 200, selling about 58,000 copies in its first week. The album is the 103rd release of Saddle Creek Records. This album was #12 on Rolling Stone's list of the Top 50 Albums of 2007.

According to CBS news (CBS) We're all wondering what's going to happen in the year 2008. Well, as CBS Sunday Morning's Bill Geist found out, there's no better place to find out than in Cassadaga, Florida, the psychic capital of the world.

It's is a little town where about half the residents are psychics…of one kind or another.

Why Cassadega? Well, you know how cell phone contacts are better in certain places? Well, spiritualists settled here in 1894 because contact with the other planes, if you will, was clearer to them here. Psychic entrepreneurs, like Dr. Rob, later opened for business around the religious settlement.

Dr. Rob says it's a psychic Disneyland…where Mayberry meets the Twilight Zone.

No barbers, grocers or bankers...just scores of psychics. No waiting. Major credit cards accepted.

So, what does Cassadega's psychic industry foresee in 2008?

For the economy…

Good news, from Reverend Dawn Cassaday, a clairvoyant and clairaudient.

"I feel that the economy could actually be turning around in a very positive direction. I feel a great strengthening of the stock market," Cassaday told Geist.

And good news from tarot card reader Matthew Greene, "So probably around April, May, I feel as though you're going to see the crunch start coming up and lifting."

What do they predict for the presidential election?

"I think it will be Hillary," predicted Jamie Tolaver Ruiz. "And I'm not saying that that's my choice. But I do feel that Hillary will be the one."

"I do feel female energy coming into the White House," agreed Greene.

But like Washington political pundits these psychics are not all talking to the same celestial sources.

"I feel the office is gonna be held by a Republican," predicted Reverend Cassaday.

Matthew Sekunna of the Universal Centre, tapped into a similar psychic plane.

"I will predict that our next president more than likely will be a Republican," Sekunna said, adding, "I have a feeling this one's also gonna be decided by the courts."

"Oh no…," reacted Geist.

Say it isn't so! Let's talk about something more pleasant, like hurricanes.

"I don't feel like we're going to have a big hurricane season this year," said Dr. Rob. "What I feel this coming year, there will be a lot of earthquakes this year. And of course with earthquakes come tsunamis."

Taking a poll of psychics is not for the claustrophobic. Small rooms, small tables, small decorating budgets. And…some rather small questions.

"Will we be able to get an Egg McMuffin at McDonalds after 11:00? I don't think that'll ever happen," predicted Sekunna.

And what about Brangelina??

"Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie?" asked Greene, as he prepared his tarot cards. "Okay. What, what kind of year is it gonna be for them?"

A moment later, he had his answer.

"I think they'll hang in there one more year."

"One more year, and then it's over?" Geist asked.

"And then the divorce card comes out," Greene answered, laughing.

And of course there's the cosmic question we ask every year...will Elvis come back?

Greene consulted his cards again, "Will Elvis…come back? Nope."

Elvis is not coming back.

And baseball?

"My team the Chicago Cubs haven't won a world series in a hundred years," Bill told Cassaday.

No matter how many times he asked, Geist's Cubs never came up winners.

"I just feel like they need more strong players. Do you understand?" Cassaday asked him.

"I understand…completely," Geist answered.

No question was too great or small.

"In my personal life, it's kind of an odd thing that's happened is…all my major appliances have broken down," Geist told Cassaday.

"Yes," she told him. This is an astrology vibration right now. Mars is in retrograde…as these planets begin to start to turn and go backwards, that sometimes…it affects the energy of the earth and the energy of the earth affects small appliances, large appliances. And so you'll find that. And that'll be an affect probably until the middle of January."

"So, I could lose more major appliances?" Geist asked, worried.

"Yes," she answered, "You could."

The message from Cassadega is that things should be more stable and happier for all of us in 2008.

"So you think 2008's going to be a good year?" Geist asked Cassaday.

"I think it's going to be an awesome year," she said.

"Good year for you and your cat," predicted Jamie Tolaver Ruiz.

By the way Jamie is also a pet psychic.

And how's this for good news? We're all going to be thinner in 2008!

"I predict less obesity," said Tolaver Ruiz. "You need to stop saying, "I want to lose 10 pounds." You want to say, "I've lost 10 pounds already," as if it has already happened."

"And you say that, and it will be so?" asked Geist.

"If you really believe it," she said.

Some predictions seem just too incredible believe.

"And do you think…our flights out tomorrow will be on time?" asked Geist.

"Yes," predicted Dr.Rob.

But shockingly, even that came true. Maybe these guys are onto something.

Paranormal Phenomena and Science - Can it be proved?

Could paranormal phenomena be proven - through science?

From: Earth Sky Blog

Could paranormal phenomena be proven - through science?
Dr. Dean Radin believes so. He’s devoted his scientific career to investigating common human experiences that seem to transcend ordinary science. Radin works in a field of human psychology called parapsychology - the study of ostensibly paranormal psychological phenomena.
It’s not as strange as it sounds. Radin doesn’t stalk around haunted houses, he works out of a lab in Northern California, called the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Radin and his colleagues ask common questions - Does prayer heal? Why does the placebo effect work? - and then put them under the lens of modern science. Radin says he’s constantly surprised at the results.
I spoke with Radin about his research, and he explained, in depth, what parapsychology is really about:
Quote:
There are many aspects of human experience that psychology has studied. But there are many that are overlooked. Unfortunately, those very experiences that have been overlooked have fascinated people throughout history. And these include things like the feeling of being stared out under conditions where you don’t get any without any sensory cues. First of all, is that true? And second of all, if it is true, what are they feeling? What are they picking up? And slightly less mundane, the phone rings and you instantly know who it is without using caller ID. Well, how did you know that? Is it some kind of coincidence or do we have some ways of knowing things that did not come through the senses. And pushing it out even further, you have cases of what’s called crisis telepathy. Where you may have a married couple or mother and child where one of them gets in danger, and they’re distant, and yet the other person somehow knows. These kinds of stories show up again and again.

And then other cases, people have a dream and wake up and the events in the dreams unfold, as they experienced it - a precognitive dream.

Another class is related to intention - these are mind-matter interaction events - where someone’s strong intention for something to occur does in fact occur.

Of course, from a scientific perspective, the goal in these experiences is to tell whether or not they’re a coincidence, or maybe they’re psychological illusions, or tricks of memory. What parapsychology has done for the past century or so is to systematically look at experiences and try to account for them by ordinary means, or whether there’s something else going on.

To make a very long story short, the consensus now is that there’s something else going on that’s not accounted for by any of a dozen psychological explanations or coincidence. It presents what amounts to an anomaly. There’s an information or communication anomaly that is begging to be understood.”

A Scary Lake!!

Weeping Icon at Jesus' Birthplace

Christmas Miracle:
According to hundreds of eyewitnesses, a painting of Jesus is weeping red tears. The painting is no ordinary icon for it hangs in the Bethlehem Church of the Nativity, above the very spot where Christ is said to have been born.
Many hundreds of Christian pilgrims, of all denominations, together with Jews and Muslims, say they have seen the tears. The weeping was first noticed by the 60 year old Muslim woman who cleans that part of the church every morning.

Sadika Hamdan told reporters that she was working alone in the shrine when suddenly " a light came from the column and the picture of the Messiah Jesus, peace be upon him, began to cry. It was beautiful, beautiful. He opened and closed his eye and later tears fell, red tears. At first, I was very frightened, and I wondered why Jesus was speaking out to me, a Muslim. But I went and got the brothers, and they saw it too, and we realised it was a miracle. I have been coming to this church for 22 years and it is the first time in history that I have seen such a sight."

At the time of the report about 600 people were visiting the shrine each day, and thousands were expected to attend the Sunday services. As well as the tears, pilgrims have also been reporting that the painting of Jesus was winking at them. There are of course no shortage of sceptics dismissing the whole story, but Stephanie Nolen, writing for a Canadian newspaper, had this to say :

"This reporter went to Bethlehem armed with the double protection of lapsed Catholicism and journalistic cynicism, and joined a crowd of about 100 kerchiefed Cypriot women clutching candles and videorecorders. 'Tears, tears,' they were whispering, some with tears in their own eyes. So I looked up - and Jesus winked at me."

Spirits of Egypt

The Multiple Spirits of Ancient Egypt

Wednesday December 26, 2007 8:37 AM

Egyptian ka statueAncient Egypt. Almost everything that the world has left of this fallen civilization is tied directly to their tombs. Of all the world's great civilizations, the ancient Egyptians had, perhaps, the most well-developed funerary tradition, and their beliefs in the afterlife were tied to beliefs in a complex species of soul.

In the cosmology of ancient Egypt, each individual was thought to possess not one, but several spirits. There was the Akh, the immortal spirit, typically represented by a glyph that resembled the Benu bird — the inspiration for the Greek Phoenix. There was the Ba, a winged spirit with the body of a bird and the head of a man, which flew forth from the corpse upon death. And then there was the Ka, whose hieroglyph was two upraised arms. The image of the Ka, depicted on the left, is shown wearing its hieroglyph like a crown. In modern occult writings, the Ka is often equated with the metaphysical notion of the Body Double, the portion of the self fundamental to astral projection. This spirit was the perfect twin of the deceased, and it was believed to remain lingering in the tomb, tied to the mortal remains so carefully mummified by Egyptian morticians.

Heavenly Figure in the Night Sky

This interesting photo was taken, so the story goes, by a pilot flying a high-altitude reconnaissance mission somewhere over the North Pole. Being a photography buff, he always carried his camera with him. It was the dead of night when he suddenly heard a gentle voice tell him to get his camera and prepare to take a picture. The apparition shown here allegedly then took shape before him, and he photographed it. Many believe it is an apparition of Jesus.

Mysterious Crosses of Light

Elk Transmission
Mediation Group

Unexplained crosses of light have been appearing in churches and non-religious settings around the world for more than 10 years, according to the Elk Transmission Mediation Group. One of the first appeared in 1988 in the bathroom of an apartment in El Monte, California. Since that sighting, other crosses of light have been documented in the Philippines; Knoxville, Tennessee; Altadena, Calif.; Vancouver, B.C.; a suburb of New Orleans, Louisiana; as well as France, Germany and New Zealand. According to the reports, no sources could be found to reasonably account for the images. "The crosses are indeed in the windows at the Copper Ridge Baptist Church," wrote The Greenville Sun columnist Bob Hurley about the Knoxville apparition. "That is a fact. It doesn't matter if you believe it or not. There at first, I was a bit of a skeptic myself. But now that I've seen the crosses of Copper Ridge with these two eyes, I'm a believer."

Upon Which I Perceive

When I look at the universe and see the infinite swirling soup of stars and galaxies, I don’t see something that is external to me. Through analogy, I can visualize a direct correlation to each element in nature to something that is occurring internally. Depending upon which side of the brain your universe often relies upon, this will either strike you as useless dream-like drivel or a powerful meditation. go to article>>
